Trial of Azerbaijani poets arrested in Iran postponed

The trial of Azerbaijani poets arrested in Iran, Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizade, was postponed, Farid Huseyn’s uncle Agalar Huseynov reported to ANS TV:

“The jury is still deliberating. Today (August 09) it is half working day in Iran. It is day-off tomorrow (August 10) and the next day. They need time for additional investigation, that is why we are coming back to Azerbaijan”.
The hearing on the case of Azerbaijani poets continued for two days. Representatives of Azerbaijani Consulate in Tabriz and their family members attended the hearing.
The poets were questioned on how they entered Iran.
They said that they arrived in Iran for a poetry festival and claimed their innocence.
According to Iranian media reports, the poets were arrested for espionage against Iran, but it was not officially confirmed.
Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizade traveled to Iran on April 29, 2012 to attend a poetry festival and were arrested in Tabriz on May 2nd.
