The International Federation on Human Rights which holds adviser status at UN and International Organization against Torture have issued an appeal and statement regarding gross human rights violations against “Talishi Sado” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Novruzali Mammadov and his imprisoned son Emil Mammadov.
Both documents have been sent to Azerbaijan’s authorities and were recommended for discussion in the UN and other organizations. This was reported to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety by Hilal Mammadov, Chairman of the Defense Committee for N. Mammadov’s Rights.
It is noted in the appeal and statement that Novruzali Mammadov is recognized as a political prisoner. His unconditional release was demanded. Also, his son Emil Mammadov’s arrest has been evaluated as a tool of pressure against Novuzali Mammadov and his immediate release is demanded.
Both documents have been sent to the Azerbaijani Representatives of Parliament of Assembly of European Council (PACE) along with Azerbaijani embassies abroad.
