Today (May 13) the Baku Appellate Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Abid Abdinbeyov, concluded consideration of the complaint against a lower court's decision to imprisoned "Azadlig" Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid for four years.
Abdinbeyov upheld the lower court's decision.
Recall that on 7 March 2008 the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Sudaba Mammedova, convicted Zahid under Criminal Code article 127.2.3 (inflicting minor bodily harm through hooliganism) and article 221 (hooliganism), and sentence him to 4 years of imprisonment.
