The trial of the “Khural” newspaper editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli was reopened at the Baku Grave Crimes Court on November 7th. The trial was attended by the representatives of the Human Rights Watch.
Former MP Guler Ahmedova, who has to testify in the trial as a witness, once again avoided the proceedings. Judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva announced the response from the Anti-Corruption Office to the inquiry regarding the lost mobile phones of the editor-in-chief, which read that cell phones had not been seized by the Office.
Then the judge invited the defendant to testify, however Zeynalli refused to provide testimony before witness Guler Ahmedova.
The next hearing was scheduled for November 14th, 2:00pm.
Avaz Zeynalli is accused of taking large bribe (Article 311.3.3) and extortion (Article 311.3.4)
