Sevgilade Guliyeva, who was involved in the altercation that led to the imprisonment of “Azadliq” Newspaper Chief Editor G. Zahid, is a wanted person.
She is accused of violating article 177.1 (theft) of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code
An employee from the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety saw Guliyeva’s photo on a poster of wanted people in the Baku Central Police Department and administrative buildings in metro stations that belong to the Baku City Chief Police Department.
Recall that on the basis of a complaint put forth by Sevgilade Guliyeva, Zahid was convicted on 7 March 2008 under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code, and sentenced to four years of imprisonment.
