Last week (4 July) a hearing was conducted in the Nasimi District Court on dismissal of the criminal case opened on the beating of “Azadlig” Newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil.
However A.Khalil demands that the criminal case be opened again.
Khalil’s defense lawyer Elchin Sadigov told this to the Institute for rReporters’ Freedom and Safety. According to Sadigov, preliminary hearings were conducted during the hearing, which was chaired by Judge Ikram Shirinov.
The next hearing was scheduled to take place on 14 June at 3:30.
Recall that Chief Prosecutor’s Office brought the case on the beating of Agil Khalil in Zeytun Baglari (Olive Gardens) to the end on 21 May although there were pictures and video-recordings of his beating.
