
Since October of 2002 until September 20th 2011 Khural newspaper was published weekly, and from September 20th 2011 it was published daily. On October 19th 2011, its property was confiscated following its failure to pay 19 000 AZN in compensation to the head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and Vugar Safarli, the executive director of the State Support Fund for Mass Media. The newspaper stopped publishing on October 21st when the printing houses refused to print the newspaper. Avaz Zeynalii, the editor-in-chief, was arrested following a lawsuit launched by MP Gular Ahmadova for alleged extortion. Nasimi District Court sentenced him to 3 months of pre-trial detention, and on January 17th his prison term was extended by three months.
