Yeni Musavat newspaper has appealed to the Baku city Executive Administration to conduct a protest action regarding imprisoned journalists.
Taking into consideration article 49 of the Constitution and Law “On Freedom of Assembly,” the newspaper is demanding for the release of imprisoned journalists and an end to persecution against the press.
Slogans like “Put an end to persecution against press,” “Decriminalize defamation” and “Imprisoned journalists should be freed” will be voiced during the action that is planned to be held on 19 February, at 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Sabir garden. 50 people are estimated to participate in the picket.
Yeni Musavat newspaper has been published since 1992 and operates as daily newspaper and has large circulation.
