“YENI MUSAVAT” NEWSPAPER’S BANK ACCOUNTS ARE FROZEN

As of September 16, “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper’s bank account has been frozen.

“Yeni Musavat” Newspaper Chief Editor Rauf Arifoglu told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.

“In accordance with a court decision, we have an approximately 2,000 AZN debt to the State Border Service and a 17,000 AZN debt to former prosecutor Rashid Hasanov,” said Arifoglu. “We are paying these off piece-by-piece. Last week on Friday we paid off 630 AZN. But the Justice Ministry Chief Department for the Execution of Court Decisions always demands that we pay of this all at once, but this is not possible for us.” According to Arifoglu, this is the reason that Yeni Musavat’s bank account has been frozen.
