In an exclusive interview to APA, PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Yevgeniya Jivkova said her comments to a BBC radio correspondent during her visit in Azerbaijan have been misinterpreted.
Jivkova emphasized that she has always supported the media and freedom of speech. She said, "The mass media means should be free and independent. I have never tolerated the imprisonment of journalists, especially when journalists are arrested because of their professional activity."
