Today, 19 January, in the Sabail District Court, under the chairmanship of judge Nuraddin Babayev, a court hearing was held on the lawsuit ("To consider inactivity of High ranking Official Illegal") of the head of the Center for Assistance to Free Economy Zohrab Ismayil against the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). Ismayil and his authorized representative Fariz Mammadov participated as the plaintiffs and Shain Ismayilov participated on behalf of the defendant.
S. Ismayilov stated that responding to inquiry does not belong to their authority. “SOCAR is a legal person which fulfills commercial activity and has the right not to answer the inquiry,” said S. Ismayilov.
Plaintiff’s representative Fariz Mammadov objected to the answer regarding SOCAR’s not being information owner. “SOCAR is a legal person that oversees oil and gas industry and its president is appointed by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Therefore, these opinions are unfounded,” said Mammadov.
After listening to both sides, the judge issued a decision not to fulfill the lawsuit.
