Hearing conducted on lawsuit about poem

Today in the Binegedi District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Svetlana Ismayilova, a hearing on Shusha resident Fyodr Maharramov’s lawsuit against Raset Pirisoy, the head of imprisoned journalist Samir Sadagetoglu’s Defense Committee, was conducted.

Representatives from both sides were present at the hearing. Addressing the court, Raset Pirisoy, said he believed that the prosecutor was teasing him by reporting a matter regarding Pirsoy’s refusal to give 40 gepik a month to a man that operates the elevator in the building where both Pirsoy and Maharramov live. Pirisoy also again emphasized that the poem he wrote wasn’t addressed specifically towards anyone. After the defense’s statement, the judge declared that the poetry be assessed by an expert to determine if Fyodor’s dignity is insulted or not in the poem. To achieve this, the court will send the poem to the Literature and Linguistics Institute named after Nasimi. The next hearing on this case will be scheduled after the assessment is complete.

Recall that F. Maharramov, justifying his lawsuit, noted that 5 years ago a special lift inspector was appointed to control the lift of the building where he lived. All lift users paid 2000 manat (0.40 AZN) to that lift inspector per month. One day, the lift inspector noted that some residents of the building pay no money. While looking through the list of residents who didn't pay money, Mahrramov saw R.Pirisoyu's name in the list and asked the writer why he did not pay. R.Pirisoyu noted that a receipt must be given to him for the amount of money paid. "That is why a conflict occurred between us," said Maharramov. "Now this problem has been published in the newspaper, first under the title "Petka", then under the title "Fetka." I think he stressed me as the personage and this humiliation is not only against me, but also against for all Shusha residents. That is why R. Pirisoyu has to apologize."
