The director of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party’s Press Service and Azadlig newspaper political commentator Natig Adilov was summoned to the Sabayel District Police Department yesterday.
Representatives of the Opposition parties and media were in front of the police office.
Adilov was detained from 3pm to 8.30pm. He was questioned about the 2 April protests arranged by Public Chamber group, which comprises of several opposition parties.
“I received a phone call at 1.30pm from a person who introduced himself as Chief of Sabayel District Police Office Criminal Investigation Department. He invited me to the police office for interrogation. I arrived at the appointed time. They made me wait for over an hour and a half. Then Rovshan Agayev, an investigator at General Prosecutor’s Office Criminal Investigation Department, arrived and questioned me as a witness. The questions were about the 2 April protests, the organizing body, and the goals of the protest. After the interrogation, I was forced to wait for another 2 hours without explanation, before I was finally released,” said Adilov.
