Azerbaijan's Chief Prosecutor's Office has appealed to the Press Council for information about "Azadlig" newspaper journalist Agil Khalil.
The Press Council has been asked to provide information about whether a standard card was given to Agil Khalil to confirm his status as a journalist. Press Council Secretary Rahim Huseynzade told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, "We responded to the information inquiry of the Prosecutor's Office. We stated that 'Azadlig' newspaper leadership didn't appeal to Press Council to get standard cards either Agil Khalil or other employees of the newspaper. Agil uses the card given to him by the newspaper."
