GUZGU NEWSPAPER CORRESPONDENT SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR OF CORRECTIVE LABOR

Today the Gubadli Regional Court heard the lawsuit of Jeyranbatan settlement residents against Guzgu newspaper’s correspondent Kamran Bayaliyev (Kamran Sekhavet).

The journalist was found guilty, under  Articles 221.2.1 (hooliganism) and 127 (inflicting intentional minor bodily harm) of the Criminal Code. Judge Etibar Guliyev led the session. Bayaliyev was sentenced to one year of corrective labor, his lawyer Vugar Khasayev told IRFS.
According to Khasiyev, there were explicit law violations during the hearing, and the Judge demonstrated bias, and made an unfair decision. They will lodge an appeal with the Appeals Court against this decision.
