HEARING CONDUCTED ON LAWSUIT OF IRFS CHAIRMAN AND IRFS EMPLOYEE

Today, 4 September, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Elchin Gurbanov, a hearing was held on the lawsuit of Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety Chairman Emin Huseynov and employee Rasul Jafarov against Baku State University (BSU).

Plaintiff R.Jafarov and BSU representative Tofig Sadigov participated in the hearing.
The parties spoke during the hearing. Plaintiff Rasul Jafarov said that normative rules were violated during the exam, question books were not coded, they were subjected to rude behavior by the Appeal Commission member Mahammad Imanli and disputable questions were not investigated. Therefore, he asked the court to accept the lawsuit for consideration and to consider the case on the essence.
Defense representative T.Sadigov said that no law violation was registered during the exam and that the lawsuit was unfounded.
Judge E.Gurbanov said that the lawsuit is enough founded, and therefore accepted it for consideration. Now the next hearing on this lawsuit is scheduled to take place on 23 September at 15:30.
On 8 July 2009 E.Huseynov and R.Jafarov took part in internal test exam in BSU to get a second degree in law. Huseynov and Jafarov filed a joint lawsuit in court in connection with law violations they faced during the meeting of the Appellate Commission on 10 July. The case was given to Judge Abbas Rzayev to be considered. However, IRFS Chairman and employee objected to this because Abbas Rzayev teaches at BSU, and then the judge was changed.
