Today, 17 March, Adalat (Justice) Party’s Deputy Chairperson, journalist Elkhan Shukurlu gave an account in the National Security Ministry.The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) was told this by E.Shukurlu. According to him, he had to make a statement regarding his comment in Khural newspaper that was published on 7 March.
In the comment E.Shukurlu expressed his views on Eynulla Fatullayev’s statements claiming that an NSM officer is suspected for the murder of Elmar Huseynov.
According to E.Shukurlu, he gave account to NSM Investigation Office Chief Faig Ganiyev and this process lasted for four hours. F.Ganiyev told E.Shukurlu that the latest statements and comments regarding E.Huseynov’s murder in the media obstruct the investigation into the murder case. Therefore, E.Shukurlu was given a warning.

Gundelik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan newspapers’ editor-in-chief Eynulla Fatullayev, who is being held in the Baku Investigative Prison, released a statement claiming that late journalist Elmar Huseynov’s murder was organized by high-ranking NSM official Akif Chovdarov, and that Chovdarov himself admitted this to Fatullayev.
