Journalist Rasim Aliyev’s Murder Case: Lawyers Requests Acquittal for Footballer Javid Huseynov

On January 7, the lawyer for arrested footballer Javid Huseynov Adam Mammadov said he would submit an acquittal motion to the Baku Prosecutor’s Office.

“I have reviewed the criminal case materials. There are strong grounds for acquittal, and therefore we will file a motion with Baku Prosecutor’s Office. It is apparent from the case materials that Javid Huseynov is not guilty in the slightest. In phone conversations and WhatsApp messages, Javid told his cousin that there was no need for anything, and that it was not worth taking [the dispute] any further,”

On January 8, Baku Prosecutor’s Office rejected this motion.

Javid Huseynov’s case has been separated from that of the other individuals accused in Rasim Aliyev’s death, which is being heard in the Baku Grave Crimes Court.
