JOURNALISTS’ CASSATION COMPLAINT FULFILLED

Yesterday, in the Supreme Court under the chairmanship of the Judge Vafaddin Ibayev 15 journalists’ cassation complaint appealed from the Sabail District Court’s decision was considered.

Rashid Hajili, the lawyer told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety and also noted that, he asked the Supreme Court Judge to punish and to file disciplinary complaint against court of law instance judges due to adoption of illegal decisions.

After the short consultation the judge fulfilled the journalists’ petition and adopted a decision on sending the case to the Sabail District Court for the consideration. V.Ibayev noted that, as the punishment of the judges were not noted in the cassation complaint, this matter wasn’t considered.

Recall that, a group of journalists carried out pickets due to the pressures against expression of freedom. These pickets were dispersed through the use of force by the employees of the Sabail District Police Department. The journalists filed a lawsuit against Baku City Executive Administration, Baku City Chief Police department and Sabail District Police Department. But the Sabail District Court adopted a decision on rejection to file the case. The Appellate Court remained this decision in the force.
