JOURNALIST’S COMPLAINT RETURNED BACK

"Azadlig" Newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil’s lawsuit he filed in Nasimi District Court against the Chief Prosecutor's Office, Grave Crimes Investigation Department of Chief Prosecutor's Office, and State Border Service has been returned back.

Nasimi District Court Judge Emin Mehdiyev stated that the documents of the plaintiff were not in order; that is why the lawsuit was returned. Agil Khalil told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. “Allegedly, some documents were missing. That is why the lawsuit was not considered. This is illegal and proves their ill-intentioned position towards me,” he said.

Recall that on 11 May this year A.Khalil was stopped illegally at Border Service when he wanted to leave the country. Khalil filed a lawsuit in Nasimi District Court about their refusal to let him leave the country. In the lawsuit the court is asked to interpret the refusal to let Agil leave the country unlawful, to achieve the payment of compensation for the violation of his rights and to adopt a decision to let the journalist to leave the country whenever he likes.
