
T. Huseynov told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS). T. Huseynov said that M. Huseynov didn’t complain about the conditions there or the attitudes of the employees toward him, but he still has a cold. According to T. Huseynov, the journalist still objects to his unlawful arrest.
Recall that on 21 January 2008 Mushfig Huseynov was sentenced to six years in prison followed by a two-year ban on working as a journalist due to a decision made by Grave Crimes Court Judge Jamal Ramazanov under the article 311.1 of Criminal Code. On 4 April 2008 Baku Appellate Court Judge Sahibkhan Mirzayev reduced this prison term to 5 years. Once Huseynov is released from prison, he is forbidden from working as a journalist for an additional two years.
