Today (22 April) a preliminary court hearing under the chairmanship of Yasamal District Court Judge Khagani Tagiyev took place on businessman Eldar Mammadaliyev’s lawsuit for insult and libel, humiliation of honor and dignity charges against “Tehgigat” Newspaper.
Jeyhun Jafarov is representing the plaintiff, while Asgar Gasimli represents the newspaper. The next hearing on this case is scheduled to take place on 5 May 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
The lawsuit stems from the article “Black Actions of Black Bondmen in Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan,” which was published in the 30-31st editions of “Tehgigat” Newspaper on 20-30 December 2007. The plaintiff wants a refutation to be published in the newspaper and a 10,000 AZN fine to be instituted against the newspaper.
