On 30 September, a group of businessmen attempted to arch towards Sumgayit City Executive Power in protest against the shutdown of a market place located in Microdistrict #8. Officers prevented the businessmen from approaching the executive power building.
After his appointment as the Executive Power Chief of Sumgayit, Zakir Farajov ordered the closure of the 8th Microdistrict market place, which was popular for its low prices, apparently due to insanitary conditions at the site.
