Meydan TV staff questioned

On September 1, Meydan TV journalist Sevinj Vagifgizi gave a statement at the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, following an interrogation by investigator Ramiz Allahverdiyev.

According to the journalist, she was first questioned about the events that took place in Mingecehvir on August 20. “They told me that the footage shot in Mingechevir is considered an investigation secret. Then they asked questions about Meydan TV, which I refused to answer,” Sevinj Vagifgizi said.

On September 2, Vagifgizi’s colleague Javid Abdullayev was questioned at Serious Crimes Investigation Department of Prosecutor General’s Office. According to him, though he had been summoned in connection to the Mingechevir case, he was questioned about Meydan TV’s activities. The questions related to Meydan TV staff and the organization’s operational structure, given that there is no office in Baku.

On the same day, September 2, journalists Izolda Agayeva and Natig Javadli, who have cooperated with Meydan TV, were interrogated. They were also asked questions about Meydan TV’s activity and whether they had traveled to Mingechevir after hearing about Bahruz Hajiyev’s death at Mingechevir Police Department.
